Guns and Terrorists and the NRA - Again

Posted on the 12 May 2011 by Mikeb302000

I will be interested to see the details of this come out, noting midway down the article that these are 'homegrown terrorists' not foreign islamo-terrorists.
Makes me wonder if they were trying to buy these weapons legally or illegally.  Of course, theNRA OPPOSES banning people from buying guns who are on the terrorist watchlist.  I think we should do more to clean up that terrorist watchlist; there do appear to be people on it who should not be.  It needs a good vetting and some pruning.  But clearly there ARE people on it who should not own guns.  But any risk to the rest of us is ok with the NRA, so long as they can continue to sell more guns to more, not fewer, people. From MSNBC:

Two held in 'weapons and threat' probe in NYC

NYPD to release more information Thursday on investigation reportedly led by intelligence division

Two men were arrested in New York late Wednesday after allegedly trying to buy guns, a grenade and other weapons, a source told NBC News. The New York Police Department made the arrests "in connection with a weapons and threat investigation," sources told WNBC's Jonathan Dienst. The NYPD and the Manhattan District Attorney's office were expected to release more details Thursday, Dienst reported. The investigation was reportedly led by the NYPD's intelligence division.Citing two law enforcement officials, The New York Times said authorities alleged the men "intended to carry out a terrorist attack in New York City."One of the sources told the newspaper that the suspects were "homegrown."Major terrorism cases in New York are usually led by federal prosecutors and the FBI. However, terror statutes also exist under state law.
