Please welcome Eileen of a creative day!

You guys know I love a good D.I.Y., especially when it’s something budget-friendly that looks like it cost a pretty penny. So I was beyond thrilled that creativity guru Eileen sent over this fall-perfect project for us to try…and just in time for the holidays! (You must also try her gold leopard tray D.I.Y. – genius!) Read this, try it, and go check her out…

I’m Eileen from a creative day, and I’m thrilled to be here. Erika has had my heart since I found her blog over a year ago, the girl’s got mad style and some of the most beautiful branding I’ve ever seen.

I’m here sharing a simple DIY I did this week. It turned winter overnight which means scarves are now an everyday addition to my wardrobe. I wanted to upgrade a plain cream scarf and I did it in a few easy steps.

1. You will need some fabric paint, a paint brush and a stencil.
I grabbed this variety sheet at my local craft store and used the triangle, but you might see a polka dot scarf in my near future.

2. Decide on a pattern and get on it.
I didn’t measure out my rows, just used the stencil to eyeball the spacing. If the paint bleeds under the stencil, its ok I promise, you are going for the handpainted look anyways.

3. Let it dry.
I think my paint said to let it dry 4 hours before it was machine washable…

Note: The paint will bleed through the scarf so make sure you are painting on a suitable surface. I used a layer of poster board behind the scarf, but it did tend to stick to the poster board as it dried so I made sure to loosen it every few rows. (We thought next time maybe use wax paper?)

This was such an easy DIY and besides now wanting to paint every scarf I own… hello simple christmas gift idea!

Thanks so much for having me Erika and you can find me over at a creative day.

Hope you will stop by!
xoxo
