Verdict: Comic Book Fun

Story: Comic book films are getting made to a level which has taken the action world by storm, but most are well known characters people will have heard of at some point of their childhood. This takes a risk unlike ‘The Avengers’ introducing us to a new completely unknown string of characters. The villain’s motive is very familiar but like most of these Marvel films this is building to something much bigger in the future. The story is fun, over the top and wildly entertaining it really is just one to sit back, relax and enjoy. (9/10)

Actor Review

Chris Pratt: Peter Quill who wants to be known as Star-Lord, after being abducted becomes a cocky thief in a faraway galaxy. He always finds himself in getting into trouble but when fate calls him to step up against a villain hell bent on destroying part of the universe he becomes a leader of an unlikely group of heroes. Great performance from Chris here turning himself into a hero, which can stand next to any of the other heroes in the Marvel world. (9/10)

Zoe Saldana: Gamora one of Ronan’s trusted assassins who betrays him once she learns of his plans, she is stubborn and wants to achieve her goal of stealing the orb on her own. She is deadly in hand to hand combat and reluctant to join the Guardians. Good performance getting to use all her skills. (8/10)

gamero

Dave Bautista: Drax out to kill anyone close to Ronan after he killed his family. This brute will destroy anyone in hand to hand combat with her pure strength. Good performance from Dave who fits in the role perfectly. (8/10)

drax

Bradley Cooper: Rocket (Voice) the racoon with an attitude problem, along with his muscle Groot collect bounties for a living, they see a chance to collect on Peter’s before joining forces to stop the end of the universe. Rocket gets all the best lines and is voiced brilliantly by Cooper. (9/10)

Lee Pace: Ronan who is going against a peace agreement between two alien worlds by trying to get his hands on an orb that could destroy a planet in a matter of moments. Good villain performance but when don’t villains want to destroy planets. (7/10)

Michael Rooker: Yondu the creature that took Peter but when Peter starts going out completing jobs on his own, he starts chasing him down to collect any money he might have lost. Good performance from Rooker who can always play a solid support character. (8/10)

Karen Gillan: Nebula the most trusted assassin of Ronan who is a match for Gamora in combat. Has a couple of good fights against Gamora and always seems to be planning the next step ahead. Good performance from Karen who has proven this year she is ready to break out big time. (8/10)

Director Review: James Gunn – Brilliant directing from Gunn, I honestly having seen a space adventure film this good since I first watch Star Wars. (10/10)

Action: Plenty of action to keep everything flowing, be it hand to hand, fire fights or all out space battles. (10/10)

Adventure: With the unlikely group traveling from end to end of the universe we get a great sense of adventure throughout. (9/10)

Sci-Fi: Arguable the best sci-fi film since the original Star Wars. (10/10)

Settings: Each setting is used perfectly to create the story with each environment being used in some way during the fight scenes. (10/10)
Special Effects
: Stunning effects used to create an actual real feel throughout. (10/10)

Suggestion: I would say everyone should watch this, it is just pure fun, with extremely likeable characters. Even if you don’t like sci-fi you will enjoy this. (Watch)
