Grus Paridae, a Finnish progressive rock duo, released an ambitious single. Passes By is a subtle, cinematic tune slowly evolving into a ahowcase for harmonizing and double-tracked violin (by guest player Jarno Koivunen) taking on the old school guitar solo. The B-side Inheritance of Devotion sounds a bit mote contemporary, but is marred by some ill-advised vocal effects.
Petteri Kurki and Rami Turtiainen are both multi-instrumentalists, taking turns on the vocals, guitar, bass, synths & programming. The single sounds great, but they have to find their version of prog to make them stand out.
Passes By b/w Inheritance of Devotion is a self-released single.
