Visit this time the sprawling and beautiful woodland Maentwrog located on the northern side of the Vale of Ffestiniog. It is famous as the largest woods in the Vale and designated as a National Nature Reserve. There are two sections of this reserve – first, Coed Llyn Mai, second, a collection of three adjoining forests known as Coed Tŷ Coch, Coed Bronturnor and Coed Glanrafon. The reserve boasts a different range of habitats. This reserve is famous as the home to a rich diversity of bird life; Redstart, Wood Warbler, Nuthatch and Pied Flycatcher are some famous birds here.

A nature trail is also the characteristic of this reserve that runs some 400 meters though Coed Llyn Mair. Here you will find a good network of public footpaths.  At the entrance of Coed Llyn Mair, you will find a small car park is situated on the right. Maentwrog is especially a wildlife area famous in Snowdonia Center of Excellence.
