But if your baby’s starting to get bored with the same old bowl of potato puree or sweet potato puree, you know it’s time to take it up a notch! Adding some green peas to make a Green peas and potato puree is a tasty and healthy way of introducing vegetables for babies above 6 months of age. A quick and easy to follow recipe – with just three ingredients!
Green Peas and Potato Puree for Babies
Ingredients:
1 large or 2 small Potatoes
Handful of Green Peas
Salt to taste ( optional)
Instructions:
1. Peel the potatoes and roughly chop them into small chunks.
2. Take the chopped potatoes and washed green peas in a steel bowl. Add ½ tsp salt ( if using) to the veggies at this stage.
3. Add about 2 cups of water to a pressure cooker. Place this bowl in the cooker and pressure-cook the veggies for 2 whistles. Wait for the pressure to release naturally before opening the lid.
4. Transfer the cooked potatoes and green peas in a grinder jar with 1 cup of boiled water and pulse to a smooth puree. Add more water to adjust the required consistency.
5. Serve warm.
With just three ingredients, and two steps, this is an incredibly easy recipe! Peas are very nutritious for growing babies, with a single cup containing more protein than a tablespoon of peanut butter! Peas are also rich in other minerals like calcium and iron along with essential Vitamins A and C. If your baby is ready, you can also add a small sprinkle of organic spices to improve the flavor and do without the salt. So go ahead and let your baby enjoy a lovely, nutritious green peas and potato puree for dinner!
