Graphic Novels! *Grabby Hands*

By Littlebookstar @LittleBookStar

So lately I’ve been eyeing on some graphic novels. I just feel like I need to branch out more and not only read YA (not that it’s a bad thing). I want to explore and read other books such as comics and graphic novels. Since my 19th birthday is coming up (April 27),  I think I’m going to ask my parents to get me these graphic novels lol. *All of these are horror / post-apocalyptic..I’m not really a fan of superheroes (idk why). The reason why I decided to showcase these books  is because I haven’t really seen these in any other blog posts / booktube videos so I thought it would be cool to let you know about them, especially those who are into horror. Let me know if you’ve heard or read any of them in the comments!

Title & Author: The Woods, Vol. 1: The Arrow by James Tynion IV
Published: September 23, 2014 by BOOM! Studios
Pages: 128 pages
Colored / B&W

On October 16, 2013, 437 students, 52 teachers, and 24 additional staff from Bay Point Preparatory High School in suburban Milwaukee, WI vanished without a trace. Countless light years away, far outside the bounds of the charted universe, 513 people find themselves in the middle of an ancient, primordial wilderness. Where are they? Why are they there? The answers will prove stranger than anyone could possibly imagine.

I love the concept of having people just suddenly find themselves in the middle of nowhere. Stories like that really intrigue me so I’ll definitely pick this up.

Title & Author: Revival, Vol. 1: You’re Among Friends by Tim Seeley
Published: December 12, 2012 by Image Comics
Pages: 128
Colored / B&W

For one day in rural central Wisconsin, the dead came back to life. Now it’s up to Officer Dana Cypress to deal with the media scrutiny, religious zealots, and government quarantine that has come with them. In a town where the living have to learn to deal with those who are supposed to be dead, Officer Cypress must solve a brutal murder, and everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.

I’m up for anything zombies! I’m a huge fan of Walking Dead so I’m interested to see Tim Seeley’s take on the apocalypse.

Title & Author: Outcast, Vol. 1: A Darkness Surrounds Him by Robert Kirkman
Published: January 15, 2015 by Image Comics
Pages: 152
Colored / B&W

Kyle Barnes has been plagued by demonic possession all his life and now he needs answers. Unfortunately, what he uncovers along the way could bring about the end of life on Earth as we know it.

Although that summary is pretty vague, I don’t care since this is written by Robert freakin Kirkman, the same person who wrote The Walking Dead comic books! I’m already sold.

Title & Author: Y: The Last Man, Vol 1: Unmanned by Brian K. Vaughman
Published: January 2, 2003 by Vertigo
Pages: 126
Colored / B&W

“Y” is none other than unemployed escape artist Yorick Brown (his father was a Shakespeare buff), and he’s seemingly the only male human left alive after a mysterious plague kills all Y-chromosome carriers on earth. But why are he and his faithful companion, the often testy male monkey Ampersand, still alive? He sets out to find the answer (and his girlfriend), while running from angry female Republicans (now running the government), Amazon wannabes that include his own sister (seemingly brainwashed), and other threats.

I’m pretty sure most of you have seen/heard of this one, but in case you haven’t, here you go! When I read the synopsis, I was immediately drawn to the book. I haven’t read anything like it so I’m interested to see the twist and turns of the story.
