Grammar Friday

By Pjfaur @peterfaur

Grammar FridayToday’s two grammar tips:

  • Capitalize the words for directions when they’re used as regional names but not as compass points. I live in Arizona, so I spend a lot of time in the Southwest. My home is about three miles southwest of the Hilton Point Tapatio resort.
  • Use “an” before an unsounded “h,” as in “an honorable peace” or “an honest mistake.” Use “a” if the “h” is sounded, as in “a historic event” or “a hill around the corner.”
