Catch the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby, the first leg of the Triple Crown, Saturday May 5. Lone Star Park's Grandstand will open early at 10:30 a.m., the first live Lone Star Park race starts at 1:35 p.m. and the Kentucky Derby simulcast will begin at approximately 5:04 p.m. Advance wagering is available on Friday, May 4 and drive-thru wagering at Parking Gate 2 beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 5.
Also, enjoy live music featuring the Roof Raisers on our Courtyard Stage from noon to 4 p.m. Don't miss the greatest two minutes in sports, Kentucky Derby Day!

I will be a celebrity judge along with my gal pal Fiona Gorostiza from Fox4 News as we pick our favorite Kentucky Derby hats. LSP will be awarding two grand prizes in their annual Kentucky Derby Hat Contest* for "The Most Stylish" and "The Most Creative". Both winners will each receive $500. Plus, three additional hats will receive an "Honorable Mention" prize. Judging begins at 3 p.m. in our Saddling Paddock.
They asked me to be a judge because I know a little something about hats... I hope to see you all there!

Kentucky Derby Best Hat Contest Saturday, May 5, 2012 Official Rules and Regulations. Must be 21 years of age or older to enter. Photo id required. 1) Prize winners will be determined in the following manner: All contestants interested in participating in the Kentucky Derby Best Hat Contest must report to the Saddling Paddock by the 3:00 PM entry deadline on Saturday, May 5, 2012. At 3:00 PM ten (10) finalists will be chosen by the Promotions Department/official judges from all of the participating contestants. The ten (10) finalists will be brought to the Winner’s Circle prior to the Kentucky Derby and our panel of judges will vote for Lone Star Park’s most creative, most stylish and three honorable mentions. The person chosen for most creative and most stylish will each win $500 Cash. Honorable mention winners will receive a “Day at the Races” including a box seat for four (4) on a mutually agreed upon 2012 live race day at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie. Liability for any and all federal, state and local taxes rest solely on the prize winners. Winners must sign an official affidavit form, confirming compliance with the rules of this contest. 2) Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, through its management, reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to this event, without claim for damages or recourse of any kind. 3) All questions not covered in these rules will be decided by the management of Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, its decision to be final. 4) The following persons are ineligible to participate in the Kentucky Derby Best Hat Contest: Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie and its advertising and public relations agencies; Members of the media; Employees of the Texas Racing Commission; Any members of the immediate families of the foregoing* (approved immediate family members of horsemen are eligible); Any individual admitted to Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie free of charge due to employment on Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie property.
