Got a Hold on Me by Christine McVie.

I think I hear this song at least once a week on Sirius. I never paid attention to the solo work of Fleetwood Mac members, aside from Stevie, so I had no idea Christine had a few successful hits herself…including this one.

Got a Hold on Me was released as a single in June of 1984 from her second album, Christine McVie. It went to #10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and was her only top 10 solo hit in the United States. It also topped the charts on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary and Rock Tracks for two weeks.

The lyrics, written by McVie and guitarist Todd Sharp, describe falling in love and knowing it’s going to work out. Sure, they’ve had their heartbreaks and tears in the past, but this time it’s different.

Steve Winwood plays synthesizers on this track.
