After acquiring Motorola, Google stayed off the record for a while about its’ future plans or what they are really going to do with the popular phone-making company. Then the rumors started swarming in about a secret Google+Motorola project for making a Moto X phone to take on Apple iPhone. Things got a little refreshed and heated up in the rumor mill when Motorola Logo went all Google. Now, we are getting closer to hearing some official news about this topic as Google has teased about an upcoming Motorola press event, happening this month.

According to Forbes, tech reporter Leo Laporte has confirmed that he has been invited to a Google Motorola press briefing by Motorola adviser Guy Kawasaki, set to  be on July 10 and 11 for a limited audience of about 50 journalists. PhoneArena spotted the hidden date on the leaked ad, which shows two people jumping into a lake making the signs XI, which translates to 11 in Roman numbers. Some say it points to an announcement happening on July 11. Although, Forbes reporters points out that these “the letters or numerals are a sign of the Moto X, generation 1.”

Still, it feels safe to say this press event wont be the announcement of Moto X phone, especially since it’s only happening for a limited audience. Even if it is, Google is doing a really bad job at teasing it. Besides, CNET sources have already confirmed that “the Motorola event is actually about something else” than the rumored Moto X phone.

We will find out what this really is about in just a couple of days.

Watch this episode of Laporte’s YouTube show for more details.
