Google is Just One of the Letters of Its New Parent Company, Alphabet

In a surprising announcement, Google’s Larry Page revealed that they are planning a restructuring of all of its companies, including Google, by introducing a new parent company called “Alphabet” and they have already acquired a killer domain, https://abc.xyz/ , name to go along with the company.

Google will simply be the letter “G” under this new parent company, “Y” for YouTube, “A” for Android, “C” for Chrome, and you can probably imagine the rest. Although, its more than just about the letters but it is to “have independence and develop their own brands”. Larry Page will run the new Alphabet company as CEO while Sergey Brin manages it as President. Sundar Pichai will take over Google as the new CEO.

“This newer Google is a bit slimmed down, with the companies that are pretty far afield of our main Internet products contained in Alphabet instead. What do we mean by far afield? Good examples are our health efforts: Life Sciences (that works on the glucose-sensing contact lens), and Calico (focused on longevity). Fundamentally, we believe this allows us more management scale, as we can run things independently that aren’t very related,” Larry Page wrote on a blog post.

This means we can expect to see more new things from Google, I mean Alphabet, in the very near future. Also, it probably means that we will have to address all Google products like Gmail, YouTube, Android, with the name Alphabet in front.
