Most countries that have established first world status started by producing goods then moving on to services. The UK and the US all had slave wages and horrible conditions in factories and with time advanced and began to concentrate more on services, such as medicine and law.
Peru seems to be doing things quite the opposite though. While Peru exports food such as avocados and mangos, it has yet to create goods and prefers rather to import basic items such as laptops, cell phones, and cars. Peru has recently began to produce laptops by the company Advance, but it still has a long, long way to go.
