Its been less than an hour since we posted Godaddy’s new Super Bowl Ad and social media is already weighting in on what might go down as one of the worst marketing blunders of all time.
Just go to Twitter and search for the hashtag #GoDaddyPuppy and you will see that the vast majority of people who are commenting, hate the commercial.
I know hate is a strong word.
But that is the word.
Now we have a outcry against the commercial for promoting puppy mills with hash tags like #boycottGoDaddy #BanPuppyMills #adoptdontshop; #notcleverorfunny.
Plenty of #fail to go around too.
I don’t know how many genius it took to come up with the idea that somehow people want to see a lost puppy who goes through hell and high water to get finally get back home only to get sold off by a heartless owner and then want to do business with the company that promoted the concept.
Or use that company to register a domain name.
We opened the poll up on the right side of our blog and 75% of the voters already say they hate the ad and judging from Twitter it is unlikely to get any better.
Its one thing not get a commercial or like it or think it’s ineffective, but people are understandably having a very negative reaction to the commercial and the company .
If I was Godaddy I would pull the ad before over 100 million people are subjected to watching it on Sunday
