As the weather warms up, bathing suit season is approaching, which means it’s time to get out the beach towel and pull together some ab fab beachwear outfits that are fit and summery-good for the beach or pool. One of the most popular trends for the spring/summer 2013 season has a vintage touch. There’s some great swimwear out on the inter-web from one-pieces reminiscent of gorgeous old Hollywood starlets like Marilyn Monroe to high-waisted two-piece bikinis. Swimsuit trends are all about the old school style and sex appeal. It will soon be time to hang out under the summer sun with the antiquated, yet unique, beachwear trends offered this swimsuit season.

Many of you have already seen the vintage styles and designs that will be seen on the beach this summer during the numerous shows at last winters fashion week. Not only does this summers beachwear collection allow you to feel like a 1950s hollywood starlet, but they are also flattering on a range of different sizes and shapes. In addition, the bright hues that these swimming costumes are available in will complement just about any skin tone. Swimwear isn’t the only beach attire to get the vintage treatment. Captivating Curves and Fun Frills

For those of us with curves, the high-waisted bikini trend of the 2013 summer season is more than suitable. Within the past few years, women of all sizes are sporting less and less mundane one-pieces or drab tankinis, instead they are opting to don swim wear with more attitude and sex appeal. Vintage-inspired high-waisted two-piece suits work best on ladies with fuller figures because they emphasizing areas like the hips and bum, whilst drawing less attention to the stomach region.

Another new, yet old, trend that hit the pools and beaches this summer have a bit of a flirty element. Like other retro swim pieces, bathing suits bearing ruffles have made a comeback and are a popular beachwear item for this summer. Traditionally, ruffled swimsuits were just for little girls; however, swimwear designers have added some sexy little details and embellishments to create a womanly version of this sweet style. This summer, ladies will be sporting darling, frilly bikinis and one-pieces with ruffled tops, bottoms, and shoulder straps. Swimwear designers have also created swimming skirts with ruffled embellishments and other lovely adornments. For these beachwear designs and other swimming accessories check out retailers like Marks and Spencer.

Old school beach hats and shades will be popping up this summer. Unlike swimwear, these accessories can be worn on and off the beach. Floppy hats in an assortment of colours are a chic, stylish way to block the sun. You could pair these summer hats with relaxed, linen shorts or a matching maxi dress. Since the reemergence of Ray Bans wayfarers, retro sunglasses have been quite a hit with trendsetters for the past few seasons. While the wayfarer trend is waning, other vintage frames are now becoming fashionable. This summer, fashionistas around the globe will embrace their inner Jackie O. by donning her signature over-sized shades. Other stylish shades that’ll be popular include the classic round, dark frames worn by John and Yoko and cat-eye sunnies.
