Go ‘Gangnam Style’ This Christmas Season

By Macrogers

With the Thanksgiving 2012 over, the spirit of Christmas has started flowing in with people going overboard with 2012 Christmas season decorations.

Making this holiday season fun, a residence in Perth, Australia has put up the “Gangnam Style” inspired Christmas season music-and-light show.

Kim Illman, of World’s Best Christmas Lights, has captured attention of more than 90,000 viewers on the YouTube with a remarkable light show in Bushop Riley Way, Churchlands to the tunes of Korean pop star PSY’s hit soundtrack – ‘Gangnam Style’.

To put the entire light display together, Kim said, “Stats: 41,000 bulbs, 2,000 light channels, 2kms of cable and 200 hours to set up.”

This impressive light-and-music display will help him raise fund for the local community.

“My past displays have raised more than $90k for community projects,” Kim added. Keeping philanthropy aside, when asked whether the neighbours are not annoyed?

Kim wrote, “A lot of the neighbours get in on the act with their own displays.”

“We have kids and lots of the community visit every night, it’s such a great community feeling, we love it.”

The global pop hit “Gangnam Style” by the South Korean pop singer Psy gained popularity owing to the viral broadcast of the video on YouTube. The song hit the virtual platform earlier this summer and scored a global fame with the crazy music video featuring the dance – pretending to ride a horse, among other funny visuals.

This Korean sensation recently made the headlines in the tabloids as the most watched video of all time on YouTube, pushing aside the record-holder “Baby” video by Bieber. Since it was posted in July, ‘Gangnam Style’ has been viewed about 832,764,481 times. Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’, the previous record holder had about 805,732,176 views since its debut in February 2010.

With a fresh take, go viral and celebrate this Christmas the ‘GANGNAM STYLE’.
