Giving up Smoking for Your Children

Giving up smoking for your children
As parents, one of our biggest responsibilities is to ensure that we’re setting a good example for our kids. They watch everything we do, taking cues from us as to how they should behave as they grow up. A big part of this responsibility extends to how we look after ourselves. Eating healthily and getting plenty of exercise is important not only to our own health, but as an example which our kids will take with them into adulthood. One of the most effective steps we can take to improve our health is to give up smoking. Smoking-related illnesses cause the deaths of around 100,000 people in the UK each year. Not surprising, really, when you know that cigarettes contain around 4000 chemicals, many of which are known to be cancer-causing.
For that reason alone, choosing to quit tobacco is the right thing to do for yourself, and your kids. Over the past few years, more and more people have turned to e-cigarettes in their efforts to quit tobacco. If you haven’t come across one before, an e-cigarette is a device which vaporises a liquid which contain nicotine. This vaporised e-liquid is then inhaled much in the same way as you’d do if you were smoking a cigarette. The difference between them though is the absence of those thousands of chemicals I mentioned above. Particularly dangerous chemicals like carbon monoxide and tar are both absent entirely. Due to this, e-cigarettes are a much safer alternative to tobacco. In fact, last summer there was a report from Public Health England in which they stated that e-cigs are at least 95% safer to use than tobacco. Another advantage that e-cigarettes have over tobacco is in the number of flavours which are available. There a hundreds, if not thousands, of options to choose from and loads of companies offering e liquid in the UK, so you can be sure you’ll be able to find the right flavor for you. It’s also true that the cost of e-cigarettes is a fraction of what you’ll spend if you continue to smoke. The average price of a packet of cigarettes in the UK now more than £8, meaning that smokers can expect to spend £3000 or more each year. The savings to be made by switching to vaping can mean a big difference in your bank balance, which can only help when you have a young family to look out for. If you’re looking for an effective way of quitting tobacco, e-cigarettes are certainly an option to look at. Your health, and family, will see the benefit.
