Give Me Tap

fresh water for africa

You turn on the tap – or faucet if you’re an American –
And there it is – clean-ish fresh water –
(not in Flint sadly but that’s another story…)
Across most of the developed world fresh water on tap is there in an instant…
It’s something we all just take for granted…
Though when the bills arrive we can be a little shocked to say the least…
However in Africa for instance getting life giving clean water is a struggle…
And that’s where Give Me Tap comes in…

The Give Me Tap Project

Founded by student entrepreneur Edwin Broni-Mensah
Give Me Tap not only gives you fresh water for free on the go…
But a whopping 70% of profits go to fresh water projects in Africa…
To date the Give Me Tap project has brought clean water supplies to 5334 African people…
And meant a staggering 4,844,700 less plastic bottles in landfill…
So it’s good for the environment – good for the third world and indeed good for you…

The premise is simple…
You buy one of the cool water bottles…
(in metallic blue – silver or pink)
70% of the sale goes to the project…
And you can pop into any of the participating cafe’s and bars…
And get a free top up of tap water…
Yes I said FREE…
I mean how many times have you gone for tap water –
Only to be charged!!!
Using the app means you can pinpoint participating businesses…

At the moment the Give Me Tap project is available in Manchester and London…
But Edwin and his team are pushing for countrywide recognition…
I think it’s an absolutely fantastic idea…
No more paying stupid prices for bottled water…
And one in the eye for the Nestle’s CEO Peter Brabeck
This is the smug bastard who said:

Access to public water should not be a human right…
