Gingerbread Cookies

These gingerbread cookies are soft and mild flavored.

In a large bowl or mixer, cream together the butter and  sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg. Gingerbread Cookies

Mix in the water and molasses Gradually mix the sifted ingredients into the molasses mixture. Gingerbread Cookies
 Shape dough into one inch balls.. Place the cookies 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and flatten slightly. Sprinkle with sugar. Gingerbread Cookies

Gingerbread Cookies   Soft Gingerbread Cookies 4 1/2 cups  flour 1 Tablespoon  + 1 teaspoons ground ginger 2 teaspoon baking soda 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon salt  1-1/2 cups room temperature butter  2 cup white sugar 2 tablespoon water 2 egg 1/2 cup mild flavor molasses  Extra sugar to sprinkle on cookies.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F  Sift together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Set aside for later.
  2. In a large bowl or mixer, cream together the butter and  sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the water and molasses. Gradually mix the sifted ingredients into the molasses mixture. Shape dough into one inch balls.Place the cookies 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and flatten slightly. Sprinkle with sugar.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Do not over bake or they will not be soft. Cool completely. To keep soft store in an airtight container.
