It has come under the Ghana Education Service’s concern that same-sex schools will be “breeding” ground for gay and lesbian activities.  With the GES reporting that in some single sex schools teachers have been known to force themselves on their students, along with some students admitting that they are involved in intimate relationships with some of their classmates. Further promoting the idea that the school demographics’ are causing the much too frequent gay expression.

Excerpted from Ghana Web:

The Deputy Director General of the GES, Stephen Adu told Citi News, a holistic approach is required to deal with the situation. He does not agree with calls for such schools to be converted into mixed schools.

“I will agree that homosexuality and lesbianism started with single-sex schools. It has become prevalent and so more people have become aware of it. This is just one of the many problems we have in our educational system”.

“There are equally pressing problems in the mixed schools. So it will be difficult to say whether our secondary schools should be single-sex or mixed”.

It is funny that the GES is focusing so heavily on the intimate relationships part but not on how traumatizing it is to have teachers forcing themselves on their students.
