GG Allin, “Bite It You Scum,” Live 1989

This is some real, in your face, kickass rock and roll. This song represents my basic attitude towards life, society in general and especially towards all of my haters, past, present and future!

This is when he had a band called GG Allin and the AIDS Brigade (Facebook page here). I like this lineup a lot! GG on vocals, his brother Merle Allen on guitar, Chris Brokaw on guitar and Matt Burns on drums.

The best lineup of all was the later one, the Murder Junkies. His voice was a lot better in these earlier cuts, but I think his voice was best of all even earlier than this. As his lifestyle got worse and worse, it started showing in his voice. Even in this clip, you can see that his voice has changed after he got out of jail, as if being in jail changed his voice.

Below is what they sounded like towards the end. The rhythm section is great (I think it is the Murder Junkies) but as you can tell, his voice is shot.

During this period, the band was touring under fake names, GG was often performing in a wig and the whole band dressed up like chicks. This is because the band had been banned from just about everywhere so they had to play more or less incognito. This is like the early days of the Sex Pistols when they performed as SPOTS (Sex Pistols on Tour Secretly) because they had been banned just about everywhere.

This clip is really cool. GG is wearing a short dress and wild wig with long bright red hair. The whole band is apparently dressed up like chicks, wearing dresses! LOL, they’re all wearing dresses, haha! Yay! I love these bands who dress up like chicks! They look like the New York Dolls on crack!

I remember once when Iggy Pop did a show where he was wearing a dress (he used to wear a dress sometimes in the early days). He somehow got arrested after the show and was taken to jail.

In jail, the cop asked him, “What are you doing wearing a women’s dress?”

Iggy looked affronted and said, “Excuse me officer! This is not a women’s dress! This is a man’s dress!”

Now that’s rock and roll!
