Trying to balance a full time job alongside blogging and (attempting to have) a social life can be pretty challenging at times and it's safe to say, sometimes my sleep pattern might be a bit disrupted. This being said, I think it's important to get a good night's sleep, so today I'm talking through my top tips which help me to feel rested and ready for the day ahead.

Your bed should be somewhere you want to snuggle up, read a book or watch a film, so make sure it's cosy. Primark have some great homeware items in, from duvet covers to throws and candles, which can really help you create more of a theme in your room. Cushions too are pretty important to me, especially if you're watching a film - I definitely can't watch something if I'm lay completely flat, so some cushions to prop me up (and another handily beside me to balance my cheese selection) are a must have. There's so many places on the high street now where you can pick things up and and they don't have to cost a fortune, from Ikea, to Asda and Yorkshire Linen have some great cushion covers too.

Take some time out have a hot shower, a bubble bath and relax. The more bubbles the better and I love taking the time to use a Lush bath bomb, pop on a face mask and have a proper chill out.

Have a cuppa and read a book/magazine. I usually have a milky cup of tea before bed and I don't find the caffeine bothers me in any way. You could opt for decaf, a hot chocolate instead or even hot Ribena, which is a personal favorite. Setting aside time to read, whether it's the latest book being adapted for the big screen, or flicking through a magazine, is a great way to take your mind off your busy day and start to unwind before bed.

Put your phone down and go to bed at a reasonable time. Yes really. I know we're all terrible for getting into bed and thinking 'ooh I'll just have a quick look on instagram/twitter/etc' but that quick look can easily turn into 30 minutes...maybe an hour and then it's no surprise you feel a bit grouchy in the morning.

What do you do to help you get a good night's sleep?
