So – this is part 3 of Claudia and John’s wedding in Devon, on the English Wedding blog. They combined their Australian heritage with a vintage inspired, English country garden theme and created something really special. Here’s how you can recreate that look for your own wedding day!

How to recreate this country garden wedding look
For your wedding flowers use a mix of colours. Imagine a meadow of wildflowers: there’s a glorious mixture of colours in there, right? So use pink and blue, white and yellow and include your favourites if you can: daisies and sweet peas look gorgeous, cornflowers are striking and big rose blooms make a beautiful statement.
Collect china, glassware and silverware before your wedding day – scour car boot sales or borrow from friends and relatives. Mix and match to create an eclectic and pretty theme, or stick to a single colour, but know your plan before you start so you know you can use every gorgeous piece you find.
Incorporate your heritage into your wedding day. Claudia and John did this brilliantly: he’s from Australia with Scottish and Chinese roots, while Claudia is a Brit living in Australia. Her bridal bouquet includes orchids and eucalyptus, John’s buttonhole included thistle and the larger floral displays had chrysanthemums as a nod to John’s Chinese heritage.
Keep styles simple and use your surroundings well. The wedding cake – straight, handcrafted with white chocolate and a peony on top – looks beautiful. It’s a simple design and in the grounds of Combe House looks absolutely gorgeous.
Look amazing and let your wedding theme follow your style: Claudia’s elegant wedding dress evokes the glamour of old Hollywood while John’s immaculately tailored suit is perfect for the occasion. Their easy gracefulness carries through to the details of the wedding theme.
Don’t overdo it – simple is beautiful. The wedding tables are laid with white linens, places have a sprig of eucalyptus and lavender tucked into napkins and the reception venue is light and airy – all comes together to create a joyous and beautifully bright atmosphere for a wedding celebration.
