GERARD WAY KICKS UP THE DISTORTION WITH NO SHOWS [VIDEO]

You might say Brandon Flowers has already played out the whole Pulp-inspired-alternative-rock theme with The Killers, and while that’s probably true, it hasn’t stopped Gerard Way from paying homage to Jarvis with his new single, “No Shows”. The former My Chemical Romance singer (now with glossier, firebrick red hair) skirts around propulsive guitars with heavy distortion and fuzz pedals in the track, separating himself from the band’s temperamentally 90’s alternative sound. With deadpan lyrics like, “weak knees from the level/ I’m sick from the treble/ I’m your type of metal,” he attempts to instill a dark humor which rescues it from becoming an underfed effort. Hey, at least it’s more catchy than the last couple My Chemical Romance albums.
