Today is National Garlic Day.
There is a reason they call it the stinking rose. There is a sulfuric compound in garlic that does that. I personally believe that the good benefits of garlic outweigh a bit of bad breath.
Garlic has been used as both medicine and food for thousands of years. No wonder, It is a natural antioxidant. Garlic is used to prevent heart disease and helps reduce cholesterol.That is just a few of the awesome benefits of Garlic.
Which brings me to my post today. I have teamed up with a few other awesome bloggers to give you some other recipes with garlic in it. But wait, that is not all! we are also having a awesome giveaway.
Ingredients
- 1/2 loaf of Italian Bread
- 6 cloves garlic
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 cup Italian Cheese Blend
- 2 tablespoons chopped chives
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Slice the bread in half lengthwise. Set aside
- Mince the garlic and put the garlic butter and olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat and allow to cook for 3 minutes. Set aside and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes. Pour Garlic sauce all over the bread. Sprinkle with the Italian Seasonings and then the cheese. Put the bread into the oven and allow cheese to melt about 5 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chopped chives cut into slices. Serve hot.
