I have now completely caved in and submitted myself to electronic parenting. Thanks to Miss4 finding the scooters in the depths of my wardrobe that were intended to be Santa's gifts come Christmas, I had to find an alternative. The scooters, teamed with a trampoline from #1Hubby and I, were intended to encourage them to be active, healthy, outdoorsy types. While they're still getting them, I had to start looking for something else for the guy in the big red suit to give them. And that's when I was talked into getting a Nintendo Wii. To be fair, it didn't take much to convince me. All I heard was this: blah blah blah EDUCATIONAL GAMES blah blah blah EXERCISE BASED GAMES blah blah blah CO-ORDINATION BUILDING blah blah blah EASY TO SUPERVISE blah blah blah SECOND HAND FOR A BARGAIN ON GUMTREE blah blah blah SOMETHING THEY CAN DO TOGETHER. How could I possibly resist? It would be parentally irresponsible for me to do so, right? So yes, my kids will be getting a video gaming system for Christmas. But it's not my fault. You can't blame me. This decision is all on Santa. It sucks that he will be the hero come Christmas morning instead of me. And I'm totally going to defend the decision based on the potential learning and co-ordination building they will all benefit from, while enjoying quality time together as a family. All carefully supervised by me from the lounge where I am sipping my wine and watching The Real Housewives of all the world instead of Dora and Adventure Time. While also restraining #1Hubby from joining in / taking over and pointing out how everyone is doing it wrong and then having a hissy fit if he doesn't win. I've also learnt from Miss4's sniffer dog gift locating skills - I have already sent the Christmas gifts to #1Nana's house to be hidden before our Christmas arrival. I may have told her there was booze in the bags in order to ensure she took good care of everything and hid it carefully.
