Galaxy Note 4 to Come with a Three-Sided Display?

Posted on the 22 April 2014 by Anna Peterson

The Galaxy S5 is out and now it’s time to focus our attention on Samsung’s next big device, the Galaxy Note 4. According to a report from a Korean media, this smartphone will sport a three-sided, YOUM flexible OLED display.

The Note 4 might come with the flexible YOUM display.

The Note 4 might feature the YOUM display.

What does this mean? Well, the display’s left and right sides will be bent in order to create additional zones where messages, email, incoming calls and other notifications will appear. Though it sounds similar, it is not the same type of display that was used in the Galaxy Round, but something entirely new. Reuters has also confirmed that Samsung is, indeed, working on a new form factor.

In 2013, Samsung showcased its three-sided YOUM display and in the video below, you can see what exactly are the advantages of such display.

As for other specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is rumoured to have a QHD display, meaning a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, 4GB of RAM and a 20-megapixel camera capable of recording 4K videos. The handset should also be completely water and dust-resistant.

Samsung usually reveals its Note smartphones at the IFA show in Berlin (scheduled for September, 2014), so we can expect the Note 4 to see the light of the day then.
