'Future Quest' #1 Review

It seems rather obvious that a safe bet in comics that if you want a book to tear up the sales charts, make it a team book. The Justice League is one of the most iconic teams in superhero history and the have achieved white hot popularity with mainstream audiences and comic fans alike. In a move that nobody saw coming, the minds at DC Comics, put together a team that fans thought they would never see. Utilizing the properties of their parent company Warner Bros. we comic fans were given the gift of Future Quest. An assembly of the finest action heroes of the legendary Hanna-Barbera; Space Ghost, Birdman, and of course Johnny Quest.

Out of nowhere this became one of the most buzzed about books in comicdom, and the debut issue did not disappoint. Jeff Parker crafts a story in which, the old nemesis of team Quest, Dr. Zin is harnessing an intergalactic force which destroyed the Space Rangers. Parker's understanding of each character and how to put them together as an ensemble proves that he is the perfect choice to helm this project, as he takes everything we love about these characters and brings a fresh elements to them in his script. The team of Evan "Doc" Shaner and Steve "the Dude" Rude, bring their A-game to the look of this book, with crisp beautiful lines and grandiose landscapes. Rude especially brings an amazing pop art style that would look right at home in the 60's. If you are a fan of classic cartoons or of great comics this flawless debut issue of Future Quest needs to be on your pull list.
