Friday Miscellany: Accessories, Entertainment

By Unefemme @DejaPseu

evening accessory bundles

I didn’t pack a lot of jewelry for this trip; Napa’s vibe is laid-back, so a lot of glitz feels out of place. “Casual luxe” carries the day (and night). Above a couple of accessory bundles for evening.

grey bead necklace (couple of years old from Ann Lightfoot.)

Right:  necklace from Alexandra Sojfer, Paris (shown in yesterday’s outfit post) |
French Kande pearl bracelet.

During the day, I’ll probably just wear earrings, a watch, and one of the bracelets above.

Entertainment: Parisian Style

Call My Agent (Dix Pour Cent)

We stumbled across this series titled “Call My Agent” on Netflix, and decided to watch, not realizing it was a actually a French series. If you haven’t yet seen this (originally released in France in 2015 with the title Dix Pour Cent) it’s really fun, if a little formulaic at times. Some well-known French actors make guest appearances. What I enjoyed most was seeing a few familiar places in Paris and Parisian “casual office” style across a broad range of ages and personalities. I hope there’s another season in the works!

The Collection

It’s 1947 in Paris. A family-run couture house looks to remake itself and make Paris fashion relevant again after the war. Everyone has secrets. Some may have collaborated with the Germans (it was wartime, after all…). Others are hiding things of a more personal nature. That’s the setting for The Collection, available on Amazon. While it’s more broad and less deft at times than one would hope, it’s a fun, soapy series with plenty of New Look-esque fashion, and glimpses of Paris in the years immediately after the war. The cinematography and photography are gorgeous, and there are some fun period music cues.

Have you discovered any fun series to watch recently?

Bon weekend!
