Free Crochet Pattern Release:  Shamrocks and Four Leaf Clover Applique Pattern Free Crochet Pattern Release:  Shamrocks and Four Leaf Clover Applique Pattern I was making shamrock earrings for my mother's friend when I wrote the pattern for these shamrocks and four leaf clover.  I couldn't find a free crochet shamrock pattern that was small enough for jewelry.

Below you will find the free crochet pattern for a small, medium and large shamrock appliques as well as a four leaf clover applique.  These appliques are the perfect size for jewelry, pins, scrap-booking, magnets and more!

Materials:
Green Crochet Thread Size 10
Crochet Hook Size 2.0mm
Needle

Abbreviations:
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet

Large Shamrock (approximately 1” x 1”)
 
Creating the Shamrock:
Start with a magic ring
*Chain seven, sl st in magic ring* (this creates the first leaf loop) * repeat twice more . Sl
st in magic ring one final time. (Three leaf loops made). Tighten magic ring.

“2 Sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, 2 sc” in rst chain seven space, sl st in the sl st you made in the
magic ring after the chain seven from the previous round. *“2 Sc, hdc, 3dc, 2 sc ” in the
second chain seven space, sl st in the sl st you made in the magic ring after the chain
seven from the previous round* repeat once more.
 
Creating the Stem:
Sl st in the next sl st from previous round. Ch 6, sl in the second ch from hook. Sl st in
the next four stitches. Tie off thread leaving a three inch tail. Sew the tail up through
the shamrock and cut off excess.
Weave in all other loose threads.
Medium Shamrock (approximately 1” tall 2/3” wide)
Creating the Shamrock:

Start with a magic ring
*Chain six, sl st in magic ring* (this creates the first leaf loop) * repeat twice more . Sl st in magic ring one final time. (Three leaf loops made). Tighten the magic ring. 

“Sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc” in first chain six space, sl st in the sl st you made in the magic ring after the chain six from the previous round. *“Sc, hdc, 3dc, sc” in the second chain six space, sl st in the sl st you made in the magic ring after the chain seven from the previous round* repeat once more.
 
Creating the Stem:
Sl st in the next sl st from previous round. Ch 5, sl in the second ch from hook. Sl st in the next three stitches. Tie off thread leaving a three inch tail. Sew the tail up through the shamrock and cut off excess.
Weave in all other loose threads.
Small Shamrock ( approximately 1/2” x 1/2”)
Creating the Shamrock:

Start with a magic ring
*Chain six, sl st in magic ring* (this creates the first leaf loop) * repeat twice more . Sl st in magic ring one final time. (Three leaf loops made). Pull the magic ring tight.

“5 Sc” in first chain six space, sl st in the sl st you made in the magic ring after the chain six from the previous
round. *“5 Sc” in the second chain seven space, sl st in the sl st you made in the magic ring after the chain six from the previous round* repeat once more.

Creating the Stem:

Sl st in the next sl st from previous round. Ch 5, sl in the second ch from hook. Sl st in the next three stitches. Tie off thread leaving a three inch tail. Sew the tail up through the shamrock and cut off excess.
Weave in all other loose threads.
Four Leaf Clover (approximately 1” x 1”)
Creating the Clover:

Start with a magic ring
*Chain seven, sl st in magic ring* (this creates the first leaf loop) * repeat 3 times more . Sl st in magic ring one final time. (Four leaf loops made). Tighten magic ring.

“2 Sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, 2 sc” in first chain seven space, sl st in the sl st you made in the magic ring after the chain seven from the previous round. *“2 Sc, hdc, 3dc, 2 sc ” in the second chain seven space, sl st in the sl st you made in the magic ring after the chain seven from the previous round* repeat twice more.
 
Creating the Stem:
Sl st in the next sl st from previous round. Ch 6, sl in the second ch from hook. Sl st in the next four stitches. Tie o ff thread leaving a three inch tail. Sew the tail up through the shamrock and cut off excess.
Weave in all other loose threads.
