Everyone has secrets.

Iris and Will have been married for seven years, and life is as close to perfect as it can be. But on the morning Will flies out for a business trip to Florida, Iris’s happy world comes to an abrupt halt: another plane headed for Seattle has crashed into a field, killing everyone on board and, according to the airline, Will was one of the passengers.Grief stricken and confused, Iris is convinced it all must be a huge misunderstanding. Why did Will lie about where he was going? And what else has he lied about? As Iris sets off on a desperate quest to uncover what her husband was keeping from her, the answers she finds shock her to her very core.

#FRC2016 – The Marriage Lie by Kimberly Belle

Will and Iris Griffith have had the perfect marriage for the past seven years. They are each other’s favorite person.  Iris is a psychologist at a private school and she’s loved by all. Will is a computer scientist who is a genius and works at one of those “up-and-coming” companies.  They are in the process of getting pregnant and all seems perfect. At least this is how it seems until Will announces he is going to Orlando, Florida for a business conference and instead, it appears he has boarded a plane to Seattle, Washington. The plane headed for Seattle crashes, and Whe dies in that crash.

Iris thinks there must be some mistake, Will couldn’t have been on a plane to Seattle and he couldn’t be dead. He is registered on the plane and his belongings are found at the crash scene, so as the days pass, Iris just has to accept the truth of that he was on the plane and that he is dead.

I don’t write spoilers so I’m not going to say too much more about the plot.  This is one of those books that you just have to read to discover for yourself what Iris uncovers about the real reason why Will wasn’t where he’d said he’d be. I read this book in one sitting.  It was seriously one of those “page turners” that kept me reading and flipping pages because I didn’t know the “why” of it – the truth – until the very last pages of the book. Ms. Belle has written some pretty fantastic characters with truly believable life situations that just keep readers guessing until the end. The plot is believable and has plenty of twists and turns right from the beginning to keep readers going all the way through.
