Flip Your House Upside Down with This Quick Guide

By Peppertan

If you’re bored of your home, you don’t have to move. There are lots of ways you can make it more interesting again if you’re prepared to renovate. You could stay in the same location and keep the main skeleton of the house, while completely changing the feel of it. There are several interesting things you could do, one of which is to turn the house upside down. Most homes have bedrooms on the upper floors, with a kitchen and living space downstairs. However, some are configured the other way and can make for interesting places to live. Flipping your house upside down could be the answer to the love you have lost for your home.

Moving the Kitchen

If you want to flip your house so it’s upside down, moving the kitchen can be fiddly. You might need to put plumbing into a new room, and perhaps hook up some new wiring too. Kitchens often have several large appliances. They could include anything from a refrigerator to a washing machine. You’re likely to need both a plumber and an electrician to get everything sorted out. Not only do you need to create new connections upstairs, but you probably want to remove them downstairs. Your kitchen might become a bedroom or another spare room, such as an office.

Moving Bathrooms

Perhaps you might decide to move your bathrooms around. You could have them all downstairs or all upstairs. However, you should think carefully before doing this. Most houses with more than one bathroom have them on different floors. If you only have one bathroom, you might want to think about the most sensible place for it to be. Should it be by the bedrooms or by the living area? Of course, you could always put in another one.

Creating an Upstairs Entrance

If you flip your house upside down, do you want to enter your home by the bedrooms? For example, if your front door currently opens into the living room, you don’t want that for a bedroom. If you would prefer to come into the living area, you need an upstairs entrance. Obviously, to get to your upper floors, you’re going to need a staircase. It could be an outdoor staircase, or perhaps you can enter your front or back door and walk straight up to your main living area.

Downstairs Bedrooms

One of the concerns you might have with downstairs bedrooms is privacy. Many people can’t resist a peek into someone’s front window when they walk past a house. However, with a bedroom, you can have curtains or blinds closed most of the time. Of course, it’s even better if you live in a more rural area with no close neighbours. It makes sense to have downstairs bedrooms because you spend most of your time in there asleep. You get the benefit of the views from upstairs and don’t have to worry about people watching you during the day.

Transforming your house, so it’s upside down takes some work. However, it’s worth it to get a completely new home.
