Five Helpful Ways To Get The Closest Shave Possible

Outside of choosing one’s razor and shaving cream, it often seems as if there are very few choices when it comes to shaving. This is why many feel as if they are forced to endure discomfort, razor burn, or even ingrown hairs. What these individuals may not realize is that there are techniques and products out there that will make a pain-free and close shave attainable for everyone.

1. Keep the Blade Fresh

One of the single biggest mistakes that a man can make when it comes to shaving his face is overusing the blade. Whether the individual prefers a disposable razor, a straight blade, or a multi-razor cartridge, it is important to either hone or discard the blade as often as possible.

2. Find the Right Products

Outside of the razors themselves, there are some other products that are worth taking a look at. Classic shaving supplies would often include options such as face towels, brushes, honing leather, aftershave, and creams. All of these supplies were for a very important reason, and that was to get a close shave by making skin as smooth as possible.

2. Always Prep the Skin

Prepping one’s skin and whiskers is best done with soap or a shaving gel and hot water. The more time that is spent with hot water on one’s face or working lather in, the closer and more comfortable the shave will be. To accomplish this, one of the best choices is to either shave in the shower or immediately after.

4. Proper Technique

After the face has been prepped, it is time to begin trimming with short strokes going with the grain. The shave won’t be as close at the start, but it will remove a majority of the hair. All strokes should be no more than an inch or so and the individual can then reverse their direction for a closer shave after most of the hair has been removed.

5. Aftercare is Important

The aftercare is often just as important as the prepping and shaving. Aftercare products that contain Salicylic acid will help to keep one’s pores unclogged and their skin moisturized. The healthier and smoother the skin stays throughout the day, the closer the next shave will be.

Shaving does not need to be an uncomfortable chore with uneven results for anyone. With the correct products and great technique, a pain-free and close shave will only take a few moments every single day.
