Five Facial Plastic Surgery Trends We Expect to See in 2017

By A Beauty Feature @abeautyfeature

Experts from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) are taking out their crystal balls for beauty bloggers and predicting what we will see more of (plump puckers) and less of (needles) in 2017.

Here’s what AAFPRS members had to say:

“Selfie”-awareness Movement Grows

Love them or hate them, selfies are here to stay, and they are affecting how we see each other and ourselves. As a result of “selfie”-awareness, growing numbers of people are seeking cosmetic enhancements. These include injectables, laser and light-based skin rejuvenation and more involved surgeries. Social media stands out as a driving factor. A whooping 1 in 3 facial plastic surgeons detailed a surge in procedures due to the way patients saw themselves on social media.

Needle-less Injections

From Revance’s topical Botox and Topokine Therapeutic’s investigational cream for under- the-eyelid fat and gel for reduction of smile lines. There will be more anti-aging options than ever for needlephobes in the coming years.

One Plus One Equals Three

Combinations are king, especially when they involve micro needling. A technique that involves the use of tiny pinpricks to boost your skin’s production of collagen and elastin. Encouraging healing from the inside out.  Savvy facial plastic surgeons are learning how to best combine available non-invasive technologies. That will achieve results that are closer to what could only be achieved with surgery in the past.

Prejuvenation … It’s a Thing Roughly two thirds (64 percent) of AAFPRS members reported an increase in cosmetic surgery or injectables among millennials. The new thinking is why not put the brakes on aging before it starts, and we’re calling it prejuvenation.

Phat Lips

Lip enhancement is all the rage, and it’s looking like this trend is here to stay. The recent US FDA approval of Allergan’s  JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC will further fuel the popularity of these procedures in 2017 and beyond.
