Fitness Friday: Workout DVD’s

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

While I have a yoga studio and gym membership there are times that working out with a DVD is easier. Maybe you don’t want to deal with bad weather, or just have too much going on and can’t get to the gym, or you travel a lot for work. I have tried quite a few videos over the years and here are a few of my favorites:

Ballet Barre Physique

Signature Sculpt: A dynamic 60-minute workout that will tone every inch of your body with light weights, intense yet non-impact exercise sequences, and ballet-inspired techniques. It’s a program formulated to help you develop a leaner, more graceful figure.  Kristen Zurek, founder of The Ballet Physique, certified fitness instructor and former professional dancer, is the lead instructor in Signature Sculpt. This is the best workout for travel, you don’t need any equipment! I have done this in hotel rooms and it really is a fantastic workout. I danced for many years and had forgotten just how sore you are after a workout. (I was sent this for review before the holidays and really love it, I have actually purchased other videos from them)

Signature Sculpt - 60-minute dynamo workout DVD that concentrates on toning your muscles using lighter weights, intense exercise sequences, and ballet-inspired positions.

Amped Up - a 45-minute express class that focuses on building strength and boosting the metabolism through the use of heavier weights and fast-paced exercises. It’s the perfect workout to maximize calorie burn when you’re in a time crunch. Kristin Skordahl, a certified personal trainer and the assistant director of training at The Ballet Physique Fitness Studio, is the lead instructor in Amped Up. This one is better for an at home workout where you have weights and it is a serious butt kicking!

TurboFire- I purchased these DVD’s and if you doubt you can get a really good cardio session in at home, just try these. Every time I do a workout I finish absolutely drenched!

Booty Camp Fitness DVD- Started in Canada and now available via DVD’s I did a giveaway for this program about a year ago and I still use it when traveling. All I need to bring is a jump rope and the DVD. That easily fits in my laptop bag. I am sure the person in the room below me at a hotel doesn’t appreciate my jumping around but I need to get my workouts in on the road!
