Fit & Fashionable Friday: The Best Disney Race Costumes

By Fitfulfocus @fitfulfocus

The Dopey Challenge may be half a year away, but I’m already in race-planning mode. Training has begun, the hotel is booked, pre-marathon dinner plans and post-challenge massages have been reserved. All I have left is arranging flights and packing (and you know, getting in 5 bazillion training miles), but I’m also starting to think about more fun things, like the best Disney race costumes.

Besides wearing a tutu to the Electric Run, I’ve never “dressed up” for a race. For my first marathon, I made a special shirt, but this year I want to dress for Disney!

I have four races on tap, so I’ve been racking my brain for which four characters I want to dress like. I figure I should start shopping now to give myself plenty of time to find the things I need. After some quick thinking, this is what I’ve settled on (of course, this could all change as I actually start to shop!).

For the 5K – Tinkerbell

Tink’s my fave. I even dressed like her for Halloween. I already have a green tutu (though this one is way cooler), wings and green sneakers. The wings may be annoying to run with, which is why I think this outfit would be best for the shortest distance. Alternatively, I could find a shirt with wings printed on the back.

For the 10K – Ariel

This one is easy for me since I already have red hair. I’m thinking I’d pair a purple sports bra with these Charisma Green Python Brick Betty leggings. They’re kinds of scaley like fish. Top it off (bottom it off? Is that a thing) with green sneaks, and I’m set!

For the Half Marathon – Piglet

When I ran the Disney Marathon in 2014, I remember seeing a bunch of Tigers, but no Piglets! Piglet is adorable – and pink! What’s not to love? I’m thinking I’ll keep it simple with a pink striped top, pink shorts, Piglet ears (or perhaps something else that will stay on during the run) and pink sneaks!

 For the Marathon – Dopey

Uh… obviously! I have to honor the dwarf behind this crazy challenge. I’m thinking about a loose green tank and shorts that I’ll accessorize with a belt and buttons, a purple beanie and some yellow shoes.

These are my initial thoughts. I have some of these pieces already, so hopefully I can make all these happen. Here’s to shopping, running and loving Disney!
