Far too many people in this country believe they are superior to those who are less fortunate. As both Barry Switzer and Jim Hightower have said, "They were born on third base and think they hit a triple." Most (if not all) of the poor did not choose to be that way. They were born into a bad situation -- a situation probably made even worse by their community and government. Those of us who were lucky enough to be born into a better situation and get better support should put our arrogance away and have a little compassion. That's just common sense and basic decency.
