Some of the views were terrific, and I came back with hundreds of photographs, a goldmine for my future paintings… Hopefully, I will be able to give a sense of this special light, as well as represent these vivid colors.
First time of the year with outdoor painting : I took my watercolor palette with me. Here are some quick sketches of the countryside :
Clovelly - quick sketch
After the walk - Port Quin
The conditions for Watercolor painting were not ideal : sunny, yes - but windy and still pretty cold : the time for the painting to dry was quite long. I was often tempted to paint, start to sketch, and stopped because of the wind, as I couldn't get settled with my paper and my paint. Anyway: I guess this is what it takes to learn further! And not missing the essential: I really loved these landscapes… Surely, I will be back on this area, wether in paintings, or in a next trip.
