Finisterre Review: Part Two

Posted on the 30 August 2011 by Exceedpossibility @exceedpossible
I recently reviewed a Finisterre jacket and long-sleeve base layer and promised part two, well here it is. Today I'm going to tell you about the remainder of the kit I was sent by Finisterre; a beanie, a merino vest and a pair of merino boxers (underwear). I've found with all the products that they've come out of the wash in great condition, something clothes don't always do - very impressive.
Finisterre Review: Part Two
As with the first two bits of clothing I've been incredibly impressed with the quality and practicality of the kit, as well as the fantastic look - it's just as comfortable on a day out as it is in the mountains or on a run. Sadly I won't be putting up pictures of me in today's clothing, the boxers didn't seem appropriate in a picture, sorry ladies!
Zephyr Merino Vest

Finisterre Review: Part Two
Similar to the Eddy Long Sleeve Base Layer the Zephyr vest is a comfortable, good looking merino wool, and comes in a range of great colours - mine is the red above. This is perfect for a base layer under both long and short sleeve over layers but also as a layer on its own; I've found it comfortable to run in, and it doesn't get too sweaty or smelly which is always a bonus! This would be great for under a football shirt or rugby top when it's just a bit too cold, being fairly tight means it wouldn't get in the way too much either. When a long sleeve base layer is just a bit too much this is the perfect answer.
Zephyr Boxer Shorts
Finisterre Review: Part Two
To match your Zephyr vest you have the boxer shorts shown above, also the lovely merino wool making them extremely comfortable. These come in a range of really cool colours and are the tight style; good when you don't want anything moving around on a run or climbing a crag somewhere! I've ran with these under my running shorts and found them just as comfortable and non-irritating as the lycra shorts I normally wear for running.
Merino Wool Beanie
Finisterre Review: Part Two
There's very little you can say about a beanie really; as with the vest and base layer the hat is made from the beautiful merino wool and is as comfortable as you'd expect. The beanie is nice a compact, fairly small and would fit under a climbing helmet or jacket hoods comfortably, adding a bit of warmth on those chilly mountain days. These beanies will perfectly round off the Finisterre outfit for those who like the uniform look!
I couldn't fault any of the gear Finisterre have sent me and would highly recommend all of it. The merino kit has to be washed at a cooler temperature and not tumble dried but if you can remember to do it you're fine! Beautiful kit at good prices, highly recommended! The waterproofs look pretty good too:
