CREOSHOOT - 27Feature by Sarah Spohn

Give me your top five most underrated songs. I’ll give you a new one to add to the list: brought to you via Sydney’s indie rock outfit, CREO. Their latest track from their upcoming EP, “Subtitles for X, Y, Z,” coming out on August 25 is called “Give Me Yours” and it’s a triumphant upbeat catchy tune that won’t soon be forgotten.

The band’s last material came out a few years ago, but they’ve been busy behind the scenes perfecting their new EP, with the help of producer Nathan Sheely (Birds of Tokyo, Bluejuice, Dune Rats).

Influences of the Aussie foursome include Bloc Party, Brand New, with odes of soaring highs, deep lows and orchestrated sounds of the Silversun Pickups and Smashing Pumpkins.

According to frontman Jorjee Haman, “Give Me Yours” is about going through emotions of wanting something so bad, abandoning everything outside of that passion recklessly, just to go after it. Guns a blazin’.

“‘Give Me Yours’ is all about that undying desperation to achieve, love and be loved or in more general terms; whatever it is you long for that nothing else in the world matters any more, almost to the point of an unhealthy obsession,” he explained in a statement.

It’s a very modern-day version of that same fearless hunger, and wild-eyed drive that Bruce Springsteen had. That reckless abandonment of anything that didn’t lead towards great passion the New Jersey working class hero so effortlessly and epically delivered in his music. While the comparison might not be right off the bat, dig a bit deeper and you’ll see that whole “talk about a dream, try to make it real” deeply rooted within CREO.
