Favourite Scar by Leona Lewis.

If you’re a fan of 80′s music or of simply Tears for Fears, you’ll definitely recognize the sampling used in today’s song. Did you guess it yet?

Well, jet back to June of 1985. It’s “Head Over Heels” from the popular Tears for Fears album, Songs from the Big Chair.

At first, I didn’t know what to think of her version. I didn’t like it nor dislike it. But it’s grown on me. I see it as a “modern day” version of the original, with a woman’s point of view. I like how she incorporates lyrics from the original song “La la la la la la” and “Funny how time flies.”

Leona recorded “Favorite Scar” for her third album, GlassHeart, in October of 2012. It hasn’t been released as a single but if it ever is, I think it would be beyond awesome to get Roland and Curt in the video. Take a listen and see what you think.

Do you notice her first line? “Whatcha wanna talk about?” Now recall the original in which Roland says, “I wanted to be with you alone and talk about the weather.” I liked that connection too.

Interesting job, Leona.
