Pile it in, pile it on, Mardi Gras (yes, that means Fat Tuesday) is the perfect opportunity for gluttony. In fact, I’m pretty sure it was invented by the Catholic church to swear, eat carbs and drink as much Diet Coke as possible before Lent (made that up.) Once upon a time, Mardis Gras was basically the unofficial heralding of spring – a trip to the Big Easy for yard tall Hurricanes and debauchery, followed closely by St. Patty’s Day and Spring Break Woo! Oh those halcyon days of college. Now I’m just happy that it’s currently above 20 degrees Fahrenheit and I can see this large glowing yellow orb in the sky. Good times! So while I would, in fact, like to let said bon temps roll in a sun dress, this year’s celebration calls for something different. In Chicago there are options aplenty for crawfish, sazerac, and paczki, but the typical gluttony brought on by our insanely good culinary scene just can’t fly when bathing suit season is like, 5 months away. Maybe! So I’ve decided to indulge in an even more delicious treat, a few of my favorite Mardis-Gras-esque delicacies from RLJ. Trust me, this Fat Tuesday jewelry is a hell of a lot better than plastic beads, and I can guarantee with almost 80% certainty that a fraternity man won’t throw it at you should you decide to indulge along with me. Unless you’re into that kind of thing?
Yellow gold, amethyst, and diamond ring – It’s begging to be added to a ring stack, thanks to it’s low profile and east-west set oval amethysts!
Speaking of stacking. This 18kt yellow gold bangle with 5 carats of diamonds is one of my new favorites. it looks fantastic paired with its white-on-white cousin or a bolder cuff style.
Dome rings were hot hot hot at the Oscars on Sunday (Amy Adams and Kristen Chenowith) and this dome shaped sparkler is right up my alley. It’s kind of reminiscent of fireworks, but is more understated than the Diamond Fantasy ring.
These oval cut amethyst studs will never stop being my favorite fun pair of every day earrings. Interestingly enough they didn’t come from the same owner as the oval amethyst ring, but they’d go fabulously together.
A pair of rich green emerald cut tourmaline earrings is striking in bright yellow gold with a smattering of diamonds.

Not sure about you but I would much rather find this 5.32 carat fancy yellow oval cut in my king cake than a BPA filled (creepy) plastic baby.
