What screams Autumn more than Butter London’s new nail polish in Shag? Uh, nothing!!! When I first saw photos of this new Fall shade I thought it looked beautiful. I checked it out in person and thought it might be too similar to OPI’s Brisbane Bronze and I never thought that shade looked terribly nice on my nails. So, I passed on Shag. Still, whenever I passed a bottle of this fabulously fall shade, I could not help but reconsider it. And, shocking I know, eventually I caved and bought it. I am SO glad I did!
Shag is a glorious metallic chestnut brown. Something about
it wraps up everything about fall and combines it into a beautiful warm and
cozy looking polish. I really, really love it! (Can you tell I like this
color?) The metallic finish is just right – not too much foil or chrome-like
look, yet more than simply shimmer. I think the finish adds to the almost
comforting quality of this beautiful Butter London polish. And the warm, cozy
reddish brown color is just gorgeous! It reminds me of a forest of turning
leaves blended with warm, comforting apple cider and corduroy. I know that
sounds odd and is a mix of somewhat unrelated things, but I guess they are all
things that make me think of Autumn and if I had to describe Shag in one word
(other than describing its beauty) it would be Autumn! I am so glad I finally
picked up Butter London’s Shag and wish I had done so sooner!
I mentioned that Shag might be similar to OPI’s Brisbane
Bronze. I no longer have that polish so I cannot test the two side by side.
They do look similar in the bottles, but images from a Google image search make
OPI’s Brisbane Bronze look a bit lighter and more golden, while Butter London’s
Shag appears richer, warmer and with more of a reddish tone. I definitely
prefer Butter London’s Shag.
Next time you pass a Butter London display, I highly recommend you pick up Shag! There is no polish better for Fall, nor is there a more gorgeous brown out there!
