For most my adult life, wanderlust over exotic locales and dreamy destinations was my compass and I was always just one flight ahead of the present. I lived for adventures, feeding off the high of not knowing what's next. But so goes the saying...that was then and this is now. These days my compass is now always pointed to home. Because everyday with baby is a new adventure.
Now that he's a tiny bit older, I've stopped helicoptering 24/7 and am slowly mastering the fine art of being a multitasking Mom. We're hosting more and more and I've even attempted a few brunch and dinner parties. Of course, all that time spent at home means really upping my decorating game. I've been focusing on our newly finished deck (our landscaping is a whole other unfinished and untold story) and making frequent trips to some of my go-to stores like Pier1.com to deck out the deck.
For my first outdoor soiree I invited friends and neighbors over for a summer block party. It took a bit of preplanning and scheduling as I made sure to prep everything while baby took his first nap. Once he woke up, we put on the finishing touches together and he helped by not drooling into the lemonade. We even had enough time to read a book together as we waited for our guests.
Doing anything these days is tiring but it's so worth it to experience new adventures with the baby!
