Two weeks ago, I was invited to Aurora Spa to try out one of their signature Kerstin Florian facials, the Active Botanical Facial. Aurora Spa is located in the Prince Hotel on Acland St in St Kilda. It’s a place where you can just go in, relax and unwind. Aurora Spa therapeutic treatment includes steam treatments, advanced facial, body, massage and hands and feet treatments.

From the moment you walk upstairs to the timeout room, everything is setup to help you relax. I made my way upstairs to the timeout room, got a clipboard with a questionaire, filled in information about myself and what I was hoping to get out of the session. While filling out the form, the lovely therapist brought me a cup of warm tea.

Look how pretty the timeout room looks! After filling in my details, I proceeded to go into the ladies room to get changed. Each locker has a robe, towel, slippers and disposable underwear provided.

The change rooms are very clean and luxurious, just the way I like it

Prior to my facial, I got to meet Lyndall – the founder and director of Aurora! Lyndall talked about the history of Aurora, how she came up with the product range and the vision for the company. Lyndall then proceeded to give us a tour of Aurora.

This is the room where manicures and pedicures are done. Lyndall was telling us that for pedicures, clients sit back on the reclining chairs and the therapist will recline the chair back until you are horizontal. The client is also provided with an ipod to listen to relaxation tunes, which encourages complete relaxation. Sounds like total bliss to me! We then proceeded to tour the rest of the place. Look here’s Jenny in the photo!

After the tour, it was time for our facial. My beauty therapist was Reshe, she is so lovely. She took me into a small, dimly lit room. The room was at just the right temperature. I’ve been to some spas where the rooms were slightly too cold for me. As soon as I got on the massage bed, it was total bliss. Reshe examined my skin to determine what my skin type is and then proceeded to customise my facial. The facial I chose was the Active Botanical Facial, which is a customised botanical facial to help hydrate and nourish. The facial starts off with a double cleanse and tone, followed by a exfoliation treatment masque. While the masque was on, Reshe went on to massage my scalp, hands and arms. The pressure Reshe used was just right, not too firm or soft. I was really sad when the 60 mins was up because I didn’t want it to end!!

Overall, I left Aurora feeling like a million bucks. The experience from start to finish was amazing. The Active Botanical Facial costs $160 for 60 mins, more expensive than your usual facials but it’s well worth it. For the following few days, my face felt amazingly smooth and hydrated. I would advise going at least 15-20mins before your session starts. This gives your mind and body time to power down, otherwise you won’t feel the full potential of this amazing experience. If you are looking to spoil someone special or yourself, you definitely need to consider a treatment at Aurora Spa.

This was a complimentary treatment provided by Aurora Spa. All opinions are my own.
