Exercise and Green Tea Could Boost Metabolism and Weight Loss, Study SaysResearchers in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences did a study on mice and found that not only did their health improve, but their body weight dropped when they were fed a high fat diet, had green tea and got daily exercise. They believe that people following the same habits would see positive weight loss results.
After 16 weeks, the mice had a 27.1 percent reduction in body mass. They also had positive improvements in their overall health, including reduced insulin resistance and a reduction in diabetic symptoms.
According to lead author, Joshua Lambert, it was the unique combination of exercise and green tea that yielded positive weight loss results and health benefits. Mice who either exercised daily, but did not take the green tea, or who were given green tea, but did not participate in daily exercise, did not experience the same results. “Green tea seems to modulate genes related to energy metabolism, he said.”
This confirms what the experts at WebMDstate about green tea. The website states that it not only helps with metabolism to burn more fat, but it helps people who have lost weight to keep it off.

The equivalent amount of green tea for humans to possibly receive the same health and weight loss benefits is eight to ten cups per day. While that may seem like a lot, it can be used in place of regular drinks, soda and other sugary drinks.
Lambert acknowledges that until trials are done on humans, however, there is no way of knowing how beneficial the combination of exercise and green tea would have. He can only estimate that people would have a similar reaction to the mice and it would be good for their health, while promoting weight loss.
