EVIL EMPIRE #3 Review

Posted on the 29 July 2014 by Geekasms @geekasms

After I almost forgot about it, Evil Empire is back with the third installment. This is a really interesting book and the turn that this chapter took at the end came way out of left field. Just like the previous 2 issues, we get a flash forward but with a shocking twist. Back in the present, Senator Laramy is getting transported to the detention center when he gets busted out by some of his believers. He has everything working for him or so it seems. Reese does some undercover work for the FBI even though she despises. She knows that what is going on has to deal with her because of her music. She tries go get some information from Laramy’s other daughter and comes out successful. Reese and Theo make their way to a remote cabin in the woods to find Laramy hiding out. This is where things get weird.

Just when I thought I had a lock on what was going on, Bemis throws me a curveball (that is my second baseball reference, I know). The wait was worth the book. Such an interesting story that has me hooked the whole time. I think it is great too that a singer/songwriter is putting out a comic with musical influence in it. It mixes my two loves for music and comics and is a great story on top of it. I hope the punctuation at the end of the story doesn’t call for a cancellation. It can’t end like this! It’s only the bottom of the third…sorry.
