Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room (Documentary)

Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room is a documentary that categorically explores the origins of the company and the people who ran it and uses evidence, interviews, and televised hearings to put forth an explanation of how the company was involved in a number of fraudulent deals that lead to its demise leaving a number of its employees suddenly jobless and without pension.

I am aware that I am half a decade late catching up on the story of Enron but nevertheless the documentary provides a great insider's view into one of the leading companies of the world and its rise and eventual downfall. The documentary, although released in 2005, still works as a general insight into the corporate world and its dealings.
As a documentary, the film is edited well and features some good relevant background music that synchronizes well with the story. It covers all aspects of Enron as a company, from traders to CEOs and their escapades, and in doing so looks at a number of loopholes that are in place in our financial institutions.
Enron: The Smartest Guys in the World is an entertaining watch, but more so an important watch because it cautions us against taking multinational companies at face value. In this highly unstable economic world, the story of Enron is an eye opener and one story that everyone should be aware of.
