Emmy The Great Played an Intimate Set at Baby’s Alright [Photos]

Previously Emmy The Great, aka Emma-Lee Moss, rarely performed in the US, but now that she’s based here in New York, she’s already played twice this year. Last Wednesday at Baby’s Alright, she performed tunes off her newest record Second Love, which was released almost a year ago. With her last critically acclaimed album Virtue, Moss gained the success and attention of many. But having moved twice in recent years, she is taking a new approach to music making. Her new record involves more layers of treated guitar, electronics and samples. She even joked about her new electronic set-up ‘”creating a barrier” between her and the audience. She and he band seemed to be having a great time playing the new material, and the crowd seemed polite but excited to hear the new record live.
