Sydney singer-songwriter, Eleanor Dunlop, released her sophomore EP this spring, which is appropriate considering spring is exactly what she sounds like. Even given the minor key present in “Rough Side of Town”, there’s a dewy freshness pervading the track that perhaps results in the song’s theme of learning and growing. Having been exposed both to the piano and horses at a very young age, Dunlop has allowed both major classical and pop musicians as well as the outdoors to inspire her writing. The combination of her upbringing and life experiences have led to a rich songwriting talent, as displayed in her work with Australian band, Cameras, and now in her solo efforts. Sophisticated and lush, Dunlop’s sound is a mixture of piano-driven pop and emotive snapshots from her life. Listen to “Rough Side of Town” above from Eleanor Dunlop’s new self-titled EP, which you can download here.
